Now that End of Financial Year is done for another year, here are some key dates to keep in mind:

Financial Year CPD

For those AFSL’s that run a Financial Year CPD, please remember you have 30 days to report Advisers that have failed to meet their CPD requirements to ASIC.  If any of your Advisers fell short of their CPD requirements, please log into ASIC Connect and select maintain/update Adviser details to notify ASIC before 30 July 2024.

AFSLs should now have their new CPD Training Plans for each of their Representatives in place for the CPD training year ending 30 June 2025.

IDR Data Reporting

As discussed in our earlier article, Complaints, data and reporting, IDR Data Reporting is due every six months, reporting periods are as follows:-

  •         1 January to 30 June, and
  •         1 July to 31 December.

This will be the second lodgement for the majority of AFSLs.  Remember, AFSLs have a two-month submission window once the reporting period ends, the current reporting period is 1 January 2024 to 30 June 2024, the deadline for this reporting period is 31 August 2024.  We would recommend between now and the upcoming deadline, AFSLs take the time to review their complaint data, ensuring all compulsory data, inline with ASIC’s IDR Data Reporting Handbook is true and correct.

Remember, AFSL’s are still required to lodge a nil submission to ASIC where there is no complaint data to report in this period.

Experienced Provider Pathway

ASIC released Info Sheet 281 to assist relevant providers who are seeking to access the experienced provider pathway.

It is important to note that an experienced provider is a person who:

  • was a relevant provider for at least 10 years (that is, 3,650 days – whether consecutive or not) during the period 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2021, and
  • had a clean disciplinary record as at 31 December 2021.

From 1 July, AFSLs will commence notifying ASIC via ASIC Connect of the declarations received from pathway-eligible advisers before 1 July, these lodgements must be completed by 12 August 2024.

AFSLs will notify ASIC via ASIC Connect and the appoint (add) and maintain (update) function.
