FAQ

How do I apply for an AFSL?

To apply for an AFSL, you need to define the financial services and products your business will cover, prepare supporting documents, nominate suitable responsible managers, and lodge the application through ASIC’s Regulatory Portal.

Your proposed authorisations shape the whole application. ASIC will expect evidence that you can meet its licensing requirements, including organisational competence, financial resources, risk management systems, compliance arrangements and key personnel.

In practice, the process usually involves defining the scope of the licence, testing your responsible manager coverage, preparing proof documents, preparing Responsible Manager statements of personal information and supporting qualification documents, lodging the application, responding to ASIC questions, and building the operating framework you will need once the licence is granted. A strong application is not just about approval. It is about showing that your systems can work in practice from day one.
