You need to apply for an AFSL variation when your business changes in a way that affects your licence authorisations or conditions.
That might include adding new financial services, new product classes, or other material changes to the activities your licence covers. If you want your AFS licence to cover more services or products, you need ASIC to approve that change before you start operating outside your current authorisations.
You apply for a variation through ASIC’s Regulatory Portal and provide supporting information. As with a new licence application, ASIC expects the application to be accurate, complete and supported by evidence. If the change materially expands your operating model, you should treat the variation with the same care as a fresh licence application.
